About Joseph Carreau, MD
Dr. Joseph Carreau is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at Pierce Street Same Day Surgery. With a strong foundation in both surgical expertise and patient-centered care, Dr. Carreau brings years of experience treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions, from joint injuries to complex trauma cases.
Born in Colorado, Dr. Carreau earned his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University before attending Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, San Diego in 2015, where he received extensive training in adult and pediatric trauma as well as joint replacement surgery.
Specialized Training in Sports Medicine
Following residency, Dr. Carreau completed his fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Iowa. There, he trained under nationally recognized leaders in advanced arthroscopic techniques, cartilage transplantation, shoulder instability, patellofemoral disorders, ligament injuries of the knee, and shoulder replacement surgery. During his fellowship, he also served as team physician for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes during their landmark 2015 football season.
Commitment to Community & Education
Currently, Dr. Carreau serves as the team physician for Wayne State College and provides orthopedic care to several local high schools. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to academic research with publications on a range of orthopedic topics.
Dr. Carreau is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Life Beyond the Operating Room
Outside of medicine, Dr. Carreau enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and four children. An avid fisherman and nature enthusiast, he embraces an active lifestyle that complements his dedication to helping patients return to the activities they love.
