Dr. Laura McNaughton graduated at the top of her class from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota after graduating from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She was the first medical student in the history of the University of South Dakota to be accepted directly into a highly competitive integrated plastic surgery residency, which she completed at her first choice, the University of Missouri. While there, she became extensively trained in breast and skin cancer reconstruction, surgery of the hand, and cosmetic surgery of the face and body. Throughout her education, she has been the recipient of several academic and professional awards.
Dr. McNaughton felt a natural draw to plastic surgery as a career because of its inherent focus on detail, its versatility, and its ability to make a drastic and positive impact on patients’ lives. Dr. McNaughton worked for two years in the Siouxland area before deciding to form her own practice – McNaughton Plastic Surgery. With this endeavor, she commits to offering her patients candid and respectful consultations followed by outstanding surgical results and supportive care in a setting specifically dedicated to the practice of Plastic Surgery.
“I want prospective patients to know that plastic surgery can be a healthy, natural part of their lives,” says Dr. McNaughton. “It can help with reconstructive needs, beyond just cosmetic surgery. I am interested in partnering with patients to listen to, and ultimately achieve their goals.”
Dr. McNaughton truly believes being a plastic surgeon is her dream job, but if forced to pick another field, she would have loved to become a concert pianist. Outside of work, Dr. McNaughton enjoys running, boating, golfing, and spending time with her family. Her husband Jim McNaughton is a CFP® professional with the Siouxland Investment Group. Together, they are raising two rambunctious sons and two special needs dogs.
